'Something to knit with ...' does this mean knitting needles, or could this mean other knitting accessories, such as cable needles, stitch markers, etc.?

You are free to interpret all the items to be included in the package as creatively as you choose :) So that could be tools, needles, yarn, someone even suggested music! Whatever suits your fancy (and your partner's). Hope that helps!
