In the Homestretch!

Ok, so now I have made some real progress.....you can see it here: www.anotherdayanothersweater.typepad.com

For some reason, blogger won't let me post a picture today, so you can go to my blog and see what's happening in Maui.

So far I have nearly all my goodies....I will be sewing and baking next weekend, and then I can ship it all away. I will miss this little bag, it's been fun to make.

I wish I could include a little box of Maui sunshine to go along with the package! Although today you wouldn't know I lived in paradise, it rained and rained and rained. Now all the rain clouds are gone, just in time for sunset.

I am really enjoying seeing all the projects get finished up....I have no idea which would be coming my way, but I am pretty sure the mittens aren't for me!

Almost ready to put my parcel in the mail!!!

I've had so much fun with getting a parcel put together for my swap partner! I have one thing left to do and then it will be on it's way by Monday at the latest! I thought I'd post a picture of the "something knitted" that I made. It was my first ever attempt at doing a lace pattern using a chart so I had lots of little challenges, but I'm really happy with how it turned out! I only hope my partner enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Thank You

I just wanted to say a public THANK YOU to my pal who was thoughtful and sent me Interweave Holiday Knits and a card to cheer me up after my recent unexpected hospital stay. It was a kind thought and much appreciated.
Thanks again-you know who you are!

Almost ready to mail...

Well my box for my partner is almost ready to mail - it's been such fun to put the package together with the Christmas theme and questions.

I'm new to the secret part of swapping... how/when do we reveal our identities to our downstream partners?

I can't wait to see packages arrive and what everyone gets from their pal!

And in the meantime... Happy Thanksgiving to all the US participants!

Mailing Yet?

Has anyone started mailing their parcels yet? Mine is pretty much ready to go but I'm not sure when to send it. Don't want to seem to eager! (Excited? Just a bit.)

Ready to Mail!

If you are my downstream pal - this alpaca cowl may be on its way to you along with a box full of other goodies!

Is one of these yours?

It could be if you are my swap partner that I am gathering gifts for...
I made these row counter bracelets and one of them is for my downstream partner.

Christmas Traditions

Thanks Irene for sharing your Christmas traditions with us. I think it would be fun for us all to share our traditions on the blog while we put our packages together to mail and wait for ours to arrive.
I live in Maine, but for the past several years we have not have a white Christmas -winter seems to be arriving later and later each year. We put up Christmas trees and decorate our houses with Christmas lights. On Christmas Eve we go to my daughter's house for a non-traditional supper - sometimes it's lobster stew, sometimes it's Chinese take-out - but it's always fun! On Christmas morning everyone comes to my house for a big brunch and the opening of way too many presents. During the week between Christmas and New Years we have a big party for all of our friends where we have a "Yankee Swap". Everyone brings a gift and each guest picks a number - #1 choses the first gift and opens it, then #2 can either 'steal' that gift away, or choose a wrapped gift from under the tree, #3 can 'steal' either gift or choose another one - and on it goes until everyone has a gift. Lots of laughs and fun.
So, tell us a little bit about your Christmas traditions!

December in Denmark.

I will try to tell a little about how to prepare or celebrate Christmas in Denmark.
Most people is making their home nice clean and hanging "nisser" all over their house. I will try to find a picture of a "nisse" and I will try later to tell a little story about a "nisse". At the picture you can see a "nisse" woman and man - felted by myself.
When it is the first advent we are having 4 candles - one for each Sundays in Advent. Last year mine look like this.

The decoration here a quick one. Normally when we have more time it have a lot of green tree (I cannot remember the name in English - please help a little.)
In whole december we have a decoration with a calender candle - a piece is lightend every day. Every decoration is either made by yourself or you have bought it. We also have a paper calender - we open a window in the calender every day - some of them have chocolate inside.
This is what all family have in their houses.
In the last few years it become more ordinary lightened your house outside as the American way.
We make a lot of different cookies - most of them is old Danish reciept - I do not know the English word but I will later show some picture of them.
We make sweets figures made by marcipan, cholate and nuts yummi.
We have a Green Tree outside with light.
In whole December we are invited by friends or we invite family or friends - drinking hot drinks with spices in (again I do not know the English words) and making Christmas stuff together.
We are eating a lot of rice gread with kanel, sugar and butter.
Christmas Eve the 24. december is the great evening. We are eating duck or geese or dansk flæskesteg (a steak of pig) after that we are eating a sweet made by the rest of the rice gread with nuts and creem.
After this we are dancing around the Christmas tree, playing with each other and singing a lot of different Christmas songs.
First then we are giving each other one by one a gift. We are using a lot of time by doing this a couple of hours. Normally we drink coffee and have a lot of candy when we have our gifts. The 25. december some family invites other family members and friends to a dinner with danish smørrebrød (again I do not know the word) and thoose people you did not celebrate the Christmas Eve together with is going to have a gift this day but first dancing around the tree.
Thats enough for this time.
I hope you enjoy as much as I do.

Having a Wonderful Time

I am having so much fun , I have been knitting and shopping, and trying to guess what my pal will like . I am hoping to get the package off in about 10 days, this should give it plenty of time to wing it's way across the ocean. Should we put a pattern in with the yarn and needles ?

Getting things together

I have a few things ready for my partner as well. I have a knitted item finished, but I am going to do another as well. The first one is kind of a fun thing. I have the item for the soul, the ornament to hang (though I am getting another as well) and something just for fun. I have the items to knit with coming soon. What am I forgetting? LOL!! I am sure she will have more than the requisite items by the time I am done. Looking forward to the next few weeks as things gear up for the holidays!

several gifts down, several to go

I'm really enjoying this swap so far, and I haven't even sent anything yet!

I now have ready to send to my partner: something to knit from (enough yarn for 1 skein/small project), something to knit with, a couple of somethings for the soul (which I interpret kinda loosely anyway---my soul is nourished by a lot of different things ;-), and something to hang on the Christmas Tree. Still figuring out something for the taste, and especially, what handknit thing I should be working on. (I know, I know, I'm leaving the thing that takes the longest for last....but I'm thinking hard!)

Something to knit with ...

'Something to knit with ...' does this mean knitting needles, or could this mean other knitting accessories, such as cable needles, stitch markers, etc.?

Having great fun putting together my package. Hope my swap partner likes it!!!

Here Comes Santa Claus.....

Ho, Ho, Ho......rumor has it that Santa is headed to wonderfully warm Australia, donned in his bermuda shorts and hawaiin print shirt. It appears the Miss Belinda has been a good girl, as Santa's elves told me they are going to deliver a package to her. Hope she likes it, one particular elf has really hustled to get the package done ;-)

Gifts have Been Purchased!

Yesterday, I purchased something for the tree, and 2 somethings for the soul. I also have some really pretty sock yarn for something to knit from. Now, I have to decide what to knit for my pal! And of course, pick up something for the taste - but that will come closer to the send off date.

I'm having a lot of fun putting together this package!

Have a great day everyone!

Secret swap!

Hi there!
I'm not the one who is a good girl regarding to making blog-entries here. One reason: I blew it!!! I let my pal KNOW who I am!! We knew eachother before the swap, and one of the mails I wrote had my name under it. So that's that! Embarrassed? Who, ME?????

Well, now you at least now why I can't let you see pictures of what I am making and have started to put in the gift-package! I am not taking any chances.... And I am also going to post it in a couple of weeks to be sure it makes home for Christmas.

A Little Help...

Ok. So I have an AWESOME secret santa. Despite the little issue with emails in the beginning, we had been talking via email pretty freqently. I am sure I will get a super Christmas presents :) What I need help with, is with my giftee...

You see, I had contacted her and she finally answered, but only quickly and I didn't hear from her again. I had started her presents but I am lost as what to make her, since I don't really know what she likes/wants. I am thinking of making fingerless gloves - what do you all think? Or maybe kitchen towels since she seems to like that kind of stuff... Any good pattern suggestions? Or maybe an ornament, so to kill two birds with one stone - something knitted from me, and something to hang on the tree...

Thanks all!
