Progress Report on Matches

Hello Swappers!

Quite a few of you have been e-mailing us to find out when we will be sending matches and I assure you, we are working on this as quickly as we can, so we will need to ask for your patience for just a bit longer. The difficult part is the major time difference between Kasia and I, as well as the fact that there are still several of you that have not only not filled out your questionnaires, but have also not responded to our e-mails. I know that you are getting impatient, and I would be too, but we need to ask for just a little more patience from you if you can muster any more for us :) Today we spent 4 hours online making matches and that only amounted to matching about half of you. So we are going to try to make the rest of the matches between the next couple days and hopefully have them out to you by the end of the weekend at the latest. There are quite a few people in our swap and we want to match you all as "intelligently" as possible, taking into account allergies, preferences, and religious sensibilities, so I hope you can appreciate the extra time it takes to match you all properly. Thanks again for your patience and we'll be in touch with your partners soon!

Thanks for letting us know, and for organising the swap but I wonder if you are making this more difficult for yourselves. I thought the idea of the swap was to find about other peoples traditions and beliefs around Christmas so the match wouldn't need to take into account my beliefs????
Not a criticism, just a thought.....

Thanks to both of you for taking the time and having the patience to make the matches.

The excitement is building.

I can imagine it's not as simple as that to find out the right matches - so take your time and thanks for doing this job!

Thanks *so* much for all your nice comments everyone! We *really* appreciate all your continued patience :)

Yes Wendy, you are right. The swap *is* about finding out about other people's traditions, though there are some people who may or may not be more or less receptive to certain ideas than others, so we are trying to be careful in that department. The stuff I mentioned in the post is just part of what is taking up our time with making matches though. The biggest factor is that this will be a secret swap and the upstream partners and downstream partners are not the same, so we are not merely making pairs, we are actually making 2 matches per person (one person will send to another and then they will send to yet another). So basically, we are having to check who has pets and who has allergies both upstream and downstream (this is the most important factor, the other factors are incidental). I hope that makes sense, but if you need any more clarification, please feel free to e-mail me :)
