What are you thinking about knitting for your pal? I'm trying to figure out what to do for my pal. It's kind of hard to decided when you do anything? So, I am looking for some ideas.

So I am wondering how much can we reweal about our self in the package we send?I am new at this I have newer don a swap before-in Norway we have secret palls wich are simuler but.... I have planed something for my friend-but I am not sure I can send it...And also-are we going to give hints about who we are in the packege?

Ready, Set, Swap!
Hello Christmas Pals!
By now, you should have all received the name, address, e-mail and blog address for your new swap partner. Yay! Thanks so much for bearing with us and being patient while we made matches. It was a grueling combined total of 18 hours, but we think we did the best that we could for all of you and hope you enjoy meeting your new pals :) Please remember though, we are only human and we do occasionally make mistakes (especially after 18 hours!). So please, when you receive your pal's information, e-mail them within a week of today (by October 6) and confirm their address as well as establish contact. If you do not hear from someone by October 6 or if you did not receive an e-mail with a swap partner's info, please e-mail either Kasia or me (our e-mail addresses are in the sidebar) and let us know so we can track down the problem. Also, as I mentioned in your e-mails, this is a *secret* swap! So please don't spoil the surprise! Use an anonymous e-mail account when contacting your pal and please enable your blogs for anonymous comments so that your pal can stop by and say hello anonymously. If you have any questions on how to go about getting a secret e-mail address or enabling anonymous comments, please feel free to contact either one of us.
There have also been a few questions about the items that you are required to send to your partner. Please feel free to interpret them as creatively as you like! Once you get to know your swap partner's likes and dislikes, it might be easier to come up with some fun variations on the general guidelines. And please feel free to share on the swap site as well! Everyone can benefit from your creativity :)
One last thing - I know that some of you wanted very much to have an international pal and you may not have received one this time around. I assure you we tried our best to take all your requests into account, but there were far fewer international participants than participants from the USA. And some of those international participants wanted people closer to their home due to shipping costs. So, I'm afraid that not all of you will have your requests filled, but I hope that you can enjoy meeting someone from your own side of the world just as much :)
Happy Holiday swap everyone! Have fun!!

Progress Report on Matches
Hello Swappers!
Quite a few of you have been e-mailing us to find out when we will be sending matches and I assure you, we are working on this as quickly as we can, so we will need to ask for your patience for just a bit longer. The difficult part is the major time difference between Kasia and I, as well as the fact that there are still several of you that have not only not filled out your questionnaires, but have also not responded to our e-mails. I know that you are getting impatient, and I would be too, but we need to ask for just a little more patience from you if you can muster any more for us :) Today we spent 4 hours online making matches and that only amounted to matching about half of you. So we are going to try to make the rest of the matches between the next couple days and hopefully have them out to you by the end of the weekend at the latest. There are quite a few people in our swap and we want to match you all as "intelligently" as possible, taking into account allergies, preferences, and religious sensibilities, so I hope you can appreciate the extra time it takes to match you all properly. Thanks again for your patience and we'll be in touch with your partners soon!

Reminder!
Just a reminder everyone.........
Your questionnaire *MUST* be filled out and posted either on your blog or on this site by midnight September 15th (that's today in the US). Please please please do so or Santa will have to put you on his "naughty" list and we wouldn't want that to happen :) The elves *will* be checking though......
Kasia and I will get together "virtually" as soon as we can to get your matches to each of you. Please be patient with us as we live very far apart from each other and there's quite a lot of you to match up, so coordinating is an issue. We will do our best to get it done quickly but we do ask for your patience as it could take some time. We're hoping to get some kind of contest going during that time to keep you occupied, so check back for some fun activites :)
Have a great weekend!

Questions and Answers
Are you religious? I was raised as Church of Scotland, but now I don’t go to Church, but I do have ”beliefs” and I do pray.
How long have you been knitting? Would you consider yourself a Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced? Taught by my Dad to knit when I was 6 years old, used to knit a lot but lapsed for many years. I have only taken up the hobby again in last couple of years. Therefore beginning all over again! A Born Again Knitter.
Do you have any other hobbies besides knitting? Making jewellery, all arts and crafts.
Favourite colour(s)? Purples – all shades from lavender to dark hues, I like browns, in fact I like everything except White and Yellow.
Do you collect anything? Happy memories.
Are you allergic to any fibers or animals? Cat fur. I also have an allergy to “harsh wool” next to my skin. My mother used to knit vests when we were kids and I always remember sweating in the vast, hairy, itchy wool and always feeling like you had ’fluff up your nose”.
Do you have any pets? Yes, a rabbit named Hoppy –I sneeze a lot when I am around him but can’t bear to part with him – it’s my daughter Hannah’s bunny.
Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate
Cookies or Sweets? In my dream world -Both!!! – I have a VERY sweet tooth. Actual,y, either is lovely to have.
Do you knit socks? No – last time I knit a pair I was in school and it took me the whole year to finish the project.
If not socks then what? (tell us about your favourite knits). In days of old I did knit a few sweaters; now I have NO time! I knit scarves, hats, gloves, fingerless gloves (for the moment!) and blankets for Hannah’s dolls and bears!
Do you put up a Christmas tree? If not then what do you do? Yes
Favourite holiday treats? Scottish shortbread, chocolates.
Favourite holiday smells? Tangerines, cloves, chocolate, food roasting in the oven.
Do you celebrate Christmas in a traditional or unconventional way? Please elaborate. Well, we still leave out cookies and milk for SANTA and carrots for Rudolph – don’t know how much longer this will last as Hannah, my daughter is 11 ½ now!!! If we are not going to anyone’s for Xmas things proceed at a very leisurely pace throughout the day with lots, and lots of eating!!
What are your favourite holiday traditions? To eat chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. We like to watch the “Wizard of Oz” and I love “The Snowman” where there’s just the story with music and no words and I always cry! Usually play whatever new board games we have on Xmas day.
Finish the sentence: “For me Christmas is all about……”spending time at home, relaxing and being thankful for what I have”
If you were a Christmas ornament you would be……? A special one? – one that people take out year after year.
What was your favourite gift you’ve ever received? Or given? Mm, difficult one – usually whatever hand-made item my daughter made at school. She also bought me some lavender body spray which she knows I love.
When do you start your Christmas? July – I try to start buyng in little “bits and pieces”. When I lived in Australia we actually had a Xmas in July event which was absolutely fantastic with music and real Xmas food and presents – the best one ever!
Do you send Christmas cards? Do you make them or buy them? Yes, try to make for “special people” and buy the rest.
What is your favourite Christmas dish? Well, I like everything – roast potatoes, carrots, sprouts, gravy, roast beef, etc. etc. etc.!! Chocolate anything!
Carolers are at your door. What do you do? Be nice to them, Singalong.
When do you open presents? Christmas Eve or Christmas morning? If we cannot resist, maybe just open one on Xmas Eve and the rest on Xmas morning. I have been known to carefully unwrap a present from under the tree before Xmas, have a peek and then re-wrap it for Xmas day..tut!..tut!.
Do you celebrate with family or friends or both? Usually just Hannah and I if friends are otherwise busy (no family here), oh and Hoppy the rabbit.
Thanks
Carolyn

The Eagle (or perhaps I should say the elf) has landed!
I was puttering around the blogosphere when I discovered someone's questionnaire, all filled out and informative. That is when I realized that I had never posted my answers anywhere, And there was a deadline to meet! So.....if you travel over to my blog, knittingsymphony.blogspot.com, you will discover everything I could find to say about Christmas inspired by the prompting of the 25 Questions. Now I have to go take a nap... (because I worked last night, not because the questions were so hard!) - Karen
