I'm so excited!

Hello everyone!

Oh, I'm so happy I'm part of this swap, I love Christmas and I love swaps! And the whole idea behind it is one I love; making something special for someone you don't really know, but your partner will know you putted so much effort in your project.
This is my second swap, after I rediscovered knitting last year I was part of the The International Tote Exchange, and I have to say; it's an addiction..
Whoever my partner will be, I'm already thinking what I will make for you and what kind of goodies you will get..
Hope to get to know you all,

Annemieke

Hello and favorite movie

Hello everyone!
I'm very glad to be a part of this swap. I'm not religious, so for me, Christmas has always been about taking the time out from the day-to-day to show our family and friends our love. How wonderful to set apart a time to dwell on on the people who make our lives all the richer for their presence. In that vein, my second favorite Christmas movie is Love Actually. First place, however, goes to the eternal brilliance of Nightmare Before Christmas. Looking forward to getting to know you all through this swap.

Favorite Christmas Movie?

Well,

I actually have two favorite movies and they are Miracle on 34th Street and the Polar Express. I just purchased some awesome new yarn pictured here and it reminds me of Christmas. Now If I were to think of a colorway I guess I would have one for the polar express. Maybe a deep midnight blue that has some golden yellow for the twinkling stars, maybe a misty grey for the smoke from the train. Then maybe a green for the tree in middle of villiage and maybe some pink and purple to represent the bow and ribbons on the packages in Santa's bag. Anyway y'all have a great day and an awesome weekend.

Hello from Boston!

Hi everyone!

This is my first official swap, and I am so excited! I've been knitting up Christmas gifts since May! I just learned to knit last October, and there are so many things I want to learn - socks, lace, construction....

I have three children, ages 7, 2, and 1. I wish I had learned to knit before they were born. There are so many cute baby things to make.

Most of my family's Christmas traditions stem from my mom's Norwegian family. We always look forward to krumkake (Norwegian Christmas cookies) and Jul Kake (Christmas cake).

God Jul!

Hello from New Hampshire!

Hello from Southern New Hampshire...a wonderful New England state where summer is in full swing with swimming, boating, and many outdoor activities and fairs to attend!
I'm Kris...a mom of 3 boys, a wife to a wonderful hubby, and I love knitting and reading. We homeschool the kids (one just left for college) and I keep busy with crafts and a kid's club at our church. This is me (on the left) with the wonderful designer and lovely Vivian Hoxbro, and I was able to try on one of her wonderful sweaters (the Trip-Trap Jacket) at a Harrisville workshop.
I'm looking forward to participating in this swap! Christmas in New England is always fun, as we celebrate the Lord's birthday and have many traditions and local foods/crafts that I look forward to sharing with my swap pal! :) Many of our local Christmas celebrations center around handicrafts, sweets, and such.

Mele Kalikimaka

My name is Sara, and I have lived in Maui for almost a year now. This will be my second Hawaiian Christmas.
We have lots of diversity here in Maui, all contributing to make a wonderful holiday.

Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaiian for "Merry Christmas." There are lots of phrases like this in the Hawaiian language that are really just phonetic translations of English, Portuguese and/or Japanese. When the missionaries first brought the traditions of Christmas to the islands, the Hawaiians had difficulty saying "Merry Christmas," so they ended up with "Mele Kalikimaka."

I am looking forward to sharing local Christmas traditions with someone far away!

Hello from Texas

Hi,
I'm Cheryl and I am a 100% service-connected disabled veteran, and so is my husband Michael. Since I no longer work I need to keep busy with all this free time I now have. We share a beautiful home with Sir Angus Seton and Rita our two small dogs. After a 20+ yr. hiatus I picked up knitting again and I am having the greatest time making gifts for others and family. I will be taken classes to learn how to do lace knitting, cables and also socks I learned how to make them on my own!! I have many projects on many needles to keep me busy and when I get bored with one I can work on another. I am looking to learn how to spin and hope to start classes in the fall. Presently I have the following projects OTN: yarn; Spa Sox ~ D. Bliss Cashmerino; Mystery Stole 3 ~ Zephyr Lace yarn in Mahogany w/Czech Glass Beads in Red Rainbow color; Forest Canopy Shoulder shawl in Vintage Silk Maiden & Louisa Harding’s Grace. I just finished a shrug for my daughter’s 28th birthday. I used 3 balls of D. Bliss Soho in #9 Red, which is a silk, rayon and cotton yarn. I also make one of a kind jewelry using sterling silver and semi-precious gemstone beads. I also make stitch markers using Sterling Silver and Swarovski Crystals and other types of beads.
Have a great week,
Cheryl (or my friends call me CW)
